On this 21st day of January, three posts to celebrate one year of existence. ↓
Started in January 2006, Sonic Lager For Lucid Minds is a discussion of my favorite recordings in the history of popular music (with an occasional topical post). It is so named because music, at its best, intoxicates. Also, the musical selections I will be throwing out there might appear to have been chosen while in a drunken stupor. This may or may not be the case. While I don’t claim to have the broadest or deepest musical knowledge in the world, I enjoy music from a variety of genres and eras. These are not so much reviews as they are tributes that explore each song’s attributes and my interpretations and reactions. Perhaps after reading this blog, you’ll reconsider something you would normally scoff at or ignore. If you bring an open mind, then you might enjoy a visit here from time to time. . . .
[Lyrics discussed herein (quoted in italics) do not necessarily reflect The Seventh Stranger’s personal views or opinions, and may include references to profanity, racial slurs, and slightly disturbing subject matter.]
The selections are not listed in any particular order, but I will one day rank my top 100.
Download iTunes software and click on the links at the end of a song analysis to listen to a 30-second sample of that song. If the song is not available from iTunes Music Store, you’re on your own as far as tracking down the song. By the way I am NOT an iTunes affiliate and make no money from this site. I just encourage the legal acquistion of music.
Check the Archives below to view earlier discussions. However, this blog is intended to be read sequentially, to be experienced in the order of posting, much as one would come across each song on a mixtape. In other words, it is designed for you to browse by scrolling from the top on down.
